Perfume Picks

About Perfume Picks

A collector's wardrobe and wear log — built and run by one person.

Quick Answer

Perfume Picks is an iOS app for fragrance collectors, built and run by one independent developer. It catalogs your wardrobe, logs every wear, and recommends bottles you already own. It is not a retailer, not a scraper of competitor sites, and not an ad platform. The app makes money from an optional Pro subscription and retailer affiliate links.

Who runs Perfume Picks?

Perfume Picks is built and operated by Bob Guillow, an independent developer and longtime fragrance collector, and published by Timberline Ventures LLC, the developer's own company. There is no outside investor and no advertising network behind the app. Decisions about features, privacy, and direction are made by one person, and that person answers the email at support@perfumepicks.app.

What is Perfume Picks?

Perfume Picks is an iOS app for fragrance collectors. It does four things well: catalog your wardrobe with status, remaining mL, and purchase price; log every wear with weather and occasion captured automatically; build a taste profile from your real collection and your swipe feedback; and suggest something to wear tonight from bottles you already own. A yearly Perfume Wrapped recap closes the loop with the stats only your own data can produce.

What Perfume Picks is not

How Perfume Picks makes money

Two revenue streams, both transparent. First, an optional Pro subscription unlocks the full taste quiz, unlimited Train My Nose swipes, the taste profile screen, advanced analytics, and Perfume Wrapped. Subscriptions are managed through Apple via RevenueCat, so payment information never touches our servers.

Second, fragrance detail pages may include “Buy from” links to retailers such as FragranceX, Sephora, and Amazon Luxury Beauty. When you use one of those links and purchase, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. This is disclosed on the page where the link appears and in the Terms of Service. The price you pay is the same.

Why an independent developer built this

The fragrance internet has not been served well. The most-cited reference sites are dated, ad-heavy, and treat the collector like a row in a database. Newer entrants are feature-thin and focused on discovery for shoppers, not on collectors who already own dozens of bottles and want to actually wear them. Perfume Picks is built for the collector who needs a wardrobe, a wear log, and a private taste profile in one place — without ads, without scraping, and without being pushed toward the next purchase.

Editorial standards

Articles published on this site are written by Bob Guillow based on first-hand experience as a collector and on cited primary sources (manufacturer notes, perfumer interviews, IFRA documentation, and other public sources). When a fact comes from somewhere other than direct experience, it is linked. When something is an opinion, it is labeled.

Articles are dated, and the date is updated only when the content actually changes — not just to make the page look fresh.
